For about as long as I can recall, physical health has been important to me – even as a kid. The importance back then was on fitness and come on, what kid doesn’t want to be stronger and faster than everyone else. Throughout the years, to test myself, martial arts, wrestling and track just to name a few, became some of my disciplines. Of course, how could I leave out strength training. Being a preteen and teenager, I was vain. I wanted to be aesthetically pleasing with definition like some of my favorite martial artists like Bruce Lee, Van Damme and Michael Jai White to name a few.
Admittedly, back then healthy eating was not a priority. We loved McDonald’s, Burger King and anything else that tasted good. It was all about satisfying the taste buds. The internal consequences mattered little as long as we still looked good. You see? Vanity.
It wasn’t until I hit my 20s that my health consciousness would expand beyond just strength training, physical activity and aesthetics to include wiser food choices as well. I had given up the fast food and even got inspired to go vegetarian once I saw the benefits of it. Eventually I would even go vegan. Later I discovered intermittent fasting and it’s benefits so of course that also became a part of my life style never to be stopped.
I have always been driven by results I could have if I were to make certain necessary changes in life to get them and this has been especially true when it comes the optimization of my own health.
I’m Andre Williams with Level Up Fitness. Perhaps many of you already practice some of the same healthy lifestyle habits I do. If so, then this will simply serve to reinforce what you already know and do. For those who don’t however, I will share my practices and even some of my beliefs with you. What works for me just might work for you as well.
